Born in 1931, SHANNON STIRNWEIS had a long and varied career as an illustrator and fine artist. He began with black-and-white work for men's adventure magazines in the '50s, moved on to color covers and the slicks, including Argosy, Field and Stream, Outdoor Life, Boys' Life, Reader's Digest, Popular Mechanics and Time, and also illustrated postage stamps, movie posters, paperback covers and more than 35 children's books. This retrospective covers every stage of his career, annotated with the artist's own commentary.
